Site, conversion, measurement

Who should actually do our conversion work?

Conversion work is a cadence: a change, a test, a decision. A tool can draft the change. An agency can supply the people. Neither helps if nobody inside will look at the result.

The lists for this job

These are the ones I'd pick first, which is why I partner with them. I may earn a referral fee.

DISCLOSURE

Listings and verdicts can't be bought. Sponsored slots and reviews are always labeled.

WHAT MATTERS

  • You have enough traffic for a test to finish.
  • Someone can approve a change without a committee.
  • You will keep the winner and delete the loser.

Before you sign

  • Who approves a test, and how fast.
  • Where the test lives: theme, checkout, or offer.
  • What 'stop' means, and who turns the loser off.

NONE OF THESE

If the site gets little traffic, testing is theater. Change the obvious thing, measure it in orders, and wait to buy a platform.

Questions

Agency or tool?

A tool if you have a person. An agency if you do not and you will manage them. Not both on day one.

How many tests at once?

One, until you are bored of the discipline.

Does the theme matter?

Yes. A tool that writes into a theme you cannot edit will own you.
